Mumbai: Police Crime Branch Strikes Against Prostitution Racket, Liberates 33 Women From Forced Prostitution

Girgaon, 13th October 2023: In a significant action, the Mumbai Police, under the vigilant watch of their Crime Branch, conducted a successful operation on Wednesday night. They carried out a raid on seven brothels situated in the Girgaon area, rescuing a total of 33 women who were victims of the illegal sex trade.

The targeted brothels were concealed within the Noor Mohammad Baig compound buildings on V.P. Road in Girgaon. Acting on credible information received, the police swiftly moved to apprehend the individuals responsible for coercing these women into prostitution. This prompt and well-coordinated operation led to the rescue of approximately 33 women from the clutches of this illicit trade.

As a result of their efforts, the law enforcement authorities managed to detain 25 individuals connected to these unlawful activities. Additionally, a formal complaint has been registered against the owner of the brothels under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, highlighting the seriousness of the violations.

Further investigations have revealed the distressing truth that these women were subjected to forced prostitution. It is alarming to note that these brothels were located in dangerously close proximity, a mere 200 metres from a school in the Girgaon area. Those responsible for the operation were apprehended, including the brothel’s owner, with their assets being seized as part of the legal proceedings.
