Mumbai: Railway Police Official Suspended For Taking Bribes From Passengers

Mumbai, 14th March 2023: An audio tape of a railway policeman extorting a bribe of Rs 100 from each passenger to get a seat in a general coach of a long-distance train at the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) station of the Central Railway has gone viral on social media. Taking serious note of this matter, police officer Ganesh Patil of Kurla Railway Police Station was suspended. Meanwhile, last month it was revealed that the stall driver at LTT station was getting a seat in the express train by taking 50 to 100 rupees.

Last week, Ganesh Patil, who was on duty at Platform No. 1 on LTT, was charging Rs 100 for each passenger to get a seat in the general compartment of the express. The audio tape of this was circulated on Twitter. The complainant had filed a complaint against Patil in this matter. Taking serious notice of this incident, Lohmarg Police Commissioner suspended Ganesh Patil.
