Dadar, 11th August 2023: In a significant move to pay tribute to the legacy of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the state government has given its nod for the construction of a monumental 350-foot statue at the International Memorial situated on the Indu Mill site in Dadar. The decision was taken in the meeting held on November 16, 2022, in the presence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

During this meeting, it was decided to inspect a crafted replica of the proposed statue. This 25-foot-tall replica, sculpted by the renowned artist Ram Sutar at his workshop in Ghaziabad, was reviewed by the Hon. Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, along with the family members of Babasaheb Ambedkar, public representatives, and eminent personalities of the Ambedkarite movement on April 6th.

Following the inspection and subsequent approval of the replica, the state’s Social Justice and Special Assistance Department issued a government order on Thursday, officially acquiescing in the installation of the 350-foot statue at the Indu Mill site.
