Mumbai: Suspicion Of Technical Fault In Local Halts Kalyan-Bound Trains; Disrupted Other Train’s Timetable

Thane, 6th July 2023: Yesterday night, July 5, on the Central Railway line, a Kalyan-bound train was brought to a standstill at Mumbra railway station due to suspicions of a technical fault. The incident had a cascading effect on the Central Railway traffic, causing disruptions for slow trains commuting from Mumbai towards Kalyan. Consequently, numerous employees returning home late in the evening had to face the brunt of the situation.

Yesterday, at approximately 9:20 p.m., a slow train going towards Titwala from Mumbai arrived at Mumbra railway station, where the motorman suspected a potential technical fault in the train’s system. To ensure passenger safety, he decided to halt the train at Mumbra Railway Station. As a result, all slow-speed train services directing towards Dombivli and Kalyan were affected, leading to a significant backlog of trains.

As the trains stood stationary, one after the other, Thane and Ghatkopar railway stations experienced a surge in passenger numbers. The situation became particularly challenging for those travelling while standing in overcrowded trains. This created even more problems for office employees, who were already tired from the hectic office schedule.

Railway officials and employees intervened and began inspecting the train to identify the suspected fault. After 20 minutes of inspection by railway officials and employees, no fault was found in the train. So the train was sent ahead. However, the disruption caused by this incident persisted late into the night, impacting the overall train traffic on the Central Railway line.
