Mumbai: Suspicious Death Of Women Leads To Arrest Of Her Partner In Santacruz Area Of Mumbai

Santacruz, 22nd September 2023: In Mumbai’s Santacruz area, police apprehended a 30-year-old man in connection with the murder of a woman by smothering her with a pillow. Earlier, police registered a case of accidental death in this case. However, subsequent revelations through the post-mortem report confirmed that the woman was murdered by suffocation.

The accused and the woman had a romantic relationship, and through primary investigation, police suspected that the woman’s tragic demise might be linked to a dispute between the two individuals. The deceased woman is identified as Mariyam Bibi (age 33), and she was residing at the construction site of the Lotus Building in Santacruz with the accused, Shahabuddin Nazrul Ghazi (age 30).

On the afternoon hours of September 18, an altercation between Mariyam and Ghazi took a deadly turn when Ghazi allegedly ended Mariyam’s life by suffocating her with a pillow and then, subsequently, vacated the premises. Later in the evening, when the woman was found dead in her house, the residents took her immediately to the Cooper Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. After that, the police registered a case of accidental death in this case.

However, due to the suspicious death of the woman and the subsequent disappearance of Ghazi, who lived with her, police suspected the case of murder, which an autopsy report later confirmed. After the medical examination revealed that the woman was murdered by suffocation, the police registered a case of murder and arrested Gazi from the nearby Santacruz area.

In this case, police have apprehended the accused and said that further investigation is underway.
