Shivdi, 25th October 2023: On Monday night, a towing van belonging to the traffic police was reportedly stolen from the Eastern Freeway. The Wadala traffic Police registered a quick complaint in response to the theft. Fortunately, the stolen vehicle was recovered shortly after the incident, and authorities put a suspect in custody who is currently undergoing interrogation.
The missing vehicle, a Tata Decor Tochan, was a part of the Wadala Traffic Department. As per the sources, on Monday, the van was stolen by an unknown individual, prompting a complaint from Police Constable Anil Shirsat, which led to the case’s registration at the Shivdi Police Station. The incident transpired on the Eastern Freeway at Ray Road.
Surprisingly, at the time of the theft, the CCTV camera in the vicinity was apparently deactivated, adding further complexity to the investigation and raising suspicions about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Fortunately, with the help of local people, authorities managed to trace the stolen vehicle within a few hours. The police promptly arrested the accused on the spot and put him behind bars. During the investigation, police found that the prime accused in this case is not in a sound state and is currently under some mental stress, which prompted him to do such acts.
Initial reports suggest that the vehicle had been temporarily halted on the freeway for tyre maintenance when the accused seized the opportunity to take possession of the van. Authorities are conducting further investigation into the case to unravel the full extent of this incident.
