Mumbai: Vistara Airlines Pursues Case Against French National for Disruptive Behavior on Flight UK-024

Mumbai, 7th April 2024: Vistara Airlines has initiated legal proceedings against a 36-year-old French national on April 4, registering a case at the Sahar police station concerning alleged smoking and disruptive behavior during a flight. The individual, who was reportedly intoxicated during the incident, has been granted bail upon posting a bond of Rs30,000. Identified as an archaeologist currently stationed in Indore, the accused’s actions have sparked legal ramifications.

Incident on Vistara Flight (UK-024)

Reportedly, the incident occurred on a Vistara Airlines flight (UK-024) originating from Paris and arriving at Mumbai’s international airport, specifically landing at terminal V-13 around 9:19 am on April 4. Seated in 50H, the French national was observed smoking during the flight and allegedly misusing the seat area as a restroom. The airline crew intervened promptly, confiscating the cigarette and a lighter from the individual.

Handover to Authorities

Upon touchdown, the Vistara crew promptly alerted the airport’s security department, requesting their presence at the arrival gate. Subsequently, the accused was handed over to the security department. Following immigration procedures, a Vistara security officer escorted the individual to the Sahar police station, where a formal complaint was lodged. Charges have been filed against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Aircraft Rules, including endangering the safety of others and smoking aboard an aircraft.
