Mumbai: Women Tourists Arrested For Sea Link Biking Stunt

Mumbai, 18th September 2023: A young woman who came to Mumbai for sightseeing took a motorcycle directly on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link on Friday night. Interestingly, when the on-duty police tried to stop her, she put down their warning and went on to threaten them with a toy gun. A case has been registered against the young woman at the Worli police station in this case.
The 28-year-old girl, identified as Nupoor Patel, originally hails from the Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh. According to her statement, she had gone to Pune from Madhya Pradesh on her motorcycle to meet her brother.
After meeting her brother in Pune, she came to Mumbai for sightseeing. She wanted to see the iconic Bandra-Worli Sea Link. As she was not aware of the restrictions on the Worli-Bandra sea bridge, she went on to take a bike ride from Bandra-Worli Sea Link on Friday night.
At that time, the stationed police officers tried to intervene and stop her from going on the sea link, but Patel did not heed their warning. But the forward-stationed police team stopped her and detained her motorcycle. When she was asked for the documents of the motorcycle, she claimed that the motorcycle belonged to her brother and started bickering with the police.
In this minute altercation, she threw a pistol-like object (a toy gun) towards the police. After that, the police took her into custody and arrested her at the Worli police station. The Worli police registered a case against her under the Indian Penal Code for obstruction of government work, intimidation, and rash riding of a two-wheeler.
Also, the young woman was arrested, and her motorcycle was seized. But she was subsequently released on bail when she was produced in court the next day.
