Mumbai: Young Man Dies While Crossing Railway Tracks Near Neral

Mumbai, 28th February 2023: A 19-year-old boy was hit by an express while crossing the tracks near Neral station on the Central Railway. This incident happened around 11 pm on Sunday. In this incident, the youth died on the spot. Due to the accident, the engine of the express was also damaged. As a result, the braking system failed. It took a long time for the Central Railway to carry out the vital repairs, lift the dead body from the track and replace the engine. After that, the express was re-routed after almost four hours.
Rohit Shinde (19) was crossing the tracks at Neral station around 11 pm on Sunday when he was hit by the express as he did not anticipate the arrival of the express. He died on the spot. As soon as the Central Railway Administration got the information about this incident, officials and employees entered the spot. In this accident, the engine of the express was badly damaged. So it took a long time to get this express running from here by bringing an alternative engine. A senior official of Central Railway informed that the express departed for Karjat direction by bringing an alternative engine at around 2 pm.
Rohit is a native of Madhya Pradesh, and his parents had come to Mumbai for the contract work of laying gravel on the railway track, Karjat Railway Police informed.
