Navi Mumbai: 23-Year-Old Arrested for Manufacturing Illegal Liquor in Shelghar Village

Navi Mumbai, 19th October 2024: The Nhava Sheva police have taken a 23-year-old man into custody for allegedly manufacturing illegal country-made liquor in Shelghar Village, located near the Ulwe node. Authorities seized country-made liquor valued at ₹6,235, along with approximately 32,400 litres of materials used for production, estimated at ₹32,400.
Following a tip-off from Police Sub-Inspector Sarita Gude of the Anti-Human Trafficking Prevention Unit, officers conducted a raid behind a crematorium in Shelghar Village on October 18. They discovered an illegal liquor production facility behind a dilapidated building.
The suspect, Ram Mangalsing Vavmare, a resident of Shelghar in Taluka Pandel, was arrested at the site. During the operation, police confiscated the illicit liquor and the materials used in its production.
A case has been registered under the Mumbai Prohibition Act, with charges filed under sections 65 (E) and 61 (1). The Nhava Sheva Police Station has issued a notice to the accused, and further investigations are ongoing.
