Navi Mumbai: Authorities File Charges Against Four For Defrauding Interior Designer Of Rs 68 Lakh

Navi Mumbai, 16th October 2024: In Navi Mumbai, authorities have filed charges against four individuals for allegedly defrauding a woman interior designer from Mumbai of over ₹68 lakh by falsely offering to sell her a piece of land. An official reported that the complaint was lodged at the Nerul police station on Monday, noting that one of the accused has since passed away.

According to senior inspector Bramhanand Naikwadi, the accused sold a plot in Pali, Raigad district, to the 46-year-old victim for ₹68.10 lakh but failed to provide her with ownership. The case names Sumit Jain (39), who was recently murdered, along with real estate agent Vitthal Baban Nakde (43), Virendra Kadam (24), and Chandrakant Sawant (64).

Investigators revealed that Sawant impersonated the landowner, although the property was registered under someone else’s name. The suspects face charges related to cheating, forgery, and criminal conspiracy, but no arrests have been made yet.
