Navi Mumbai: Decomposed Body of Woman Found in Suitcase Near Mumbai-Goa Highway

Navi Mumbai, 11th March 2025: The Pen police have launched an investigation after a woman’s decomposed body was found inside a black suitcase near Durshet village along the Mumbai-Goa highway. The victim is believed to be around 25 years old.

The discovery was made when morning walkers in Durshet village, Pen taluka, noticed a strong odor coming from a roadside pit approximately 100 meters from the highway. On closer examination, locals traced the source of the stench to an abandoned suitcase. “The foul smell led the village sarpanch to inform the police, who promptly dispatched a team to the location,” an officer stated.

At around 10:30 AM, authorities opened the suitcase and found the severely decomposed body of a woman. “The level of decomposition indicates that she had been dead for several days,” said police inspector Sandeep Bagul. “Based on preliminary observations, the woman appears to be around 25 years old, but her exact age and cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem examination.”

The victim was dressed in a nightgown at the time of discovery. Police have formed a team to review missing person reports in the area. A murder case has been registered, and further investigations are in progress.
