Navi Mumbai Drug Bust: Mephedrone Worth Rs 13.15 Lakh Recovered

Navi Mumbai, 13th June 2024: Two individuals have been apprehended by the police for allegedly carrying mephedrone, a drug valued at Rs 13.15 lakh, in the Vashi area of Navi Mumbai, according to an official statement.
The arrest took place during the early hours of Wednesday, the official confirmed.
Police officials from the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Navi Mumbai spotted the duo behaving suspiciously near Kopri Signal around 1:45 am during routine patrols. Upon searching, they discovered 131.50 grams of mephedrone in their possession, estimated at Rs 13,15,000, stated the APMC police station spokesperson.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Jitendra Vaijyanath Gupta (48), a scrap dealer, and Bupendra Hirachand Khandelwal (41), a real estate agent from Kharghar. They have been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
