Navi Mumbai: Legal Action Initiated: Crane Operator Faces Charges in Kharghar Laborer’s Accidental Death
Kharghar, 28th January 2024: In an incident that unfolded around 11:30 am on Saturday, tragedy struck the Kharghar area when a 20-year-old labourer lost his life in a workplace accident. Sunil Narsima Tangdi, a resident of Belapur in Navi Mumbai, met with a fatal accident while working at a cable laying site. The young labourer was pushing a cable drum during excavation work when he tripped and fell onto the road near a crane.
The crane operator, unaware of the situation, moved the machine forward, resulting in the accidental crushing of Sunil. The Kharghar Police Station swiftly registered a case against the crane operator under pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act. The charges include 304A (causing death by negligence), 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life), and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life). The victim’s brother filed the complaint that prompted the legal action.
In the aftermath of the incident, Sunil’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination to a government hospital. Authorities have initiated a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to this tragic accident.
In another distressing incident in Navi Mumbai, a 14-year-old boy allegedly stabbed a 16-year-old teenager with a pair of scissors during a heated argument over a cricket game. The altercation unfolded around 6:30 pm on Tuesday in the Yadav Nagar area of Airoli.
The disagreement between the boys, who were engrossed in a cricket match, escalated to a shocking level, culminating in the accused minor stabbing the victim in the neck with a pair of scissors in a fit of rage. Prompt medical attention was provided, and the injured boy was admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
The Rabale MIDC Police Station has registered a case against the accused minor under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, about causing hurt, intentional insult, and criminal intimidation.
