Navi Mumbai Metro Achieves Prestigious ISO Certifications for Quality, Safety, and Sustainability
Navi Mumbai, 17th December 2024: The Navi Mumbai Metro has received three prestigious ISO certifications, highlighting the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd’s (CIDCO) dedication to enhancing operational excellence.
The certifications—ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001—recognize the metro’s high standards in Quality Management, Environmental Management, and Occupational Health & Safety. CIDCO collaborated closely with the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRC) to implement rigorous systems across all metro operations and maintenance.
“These ISO certifications highlight CIDCO’s commitment to delivering world-class metro services while emphasizing quality, sustainability, and safety. This achievement further cements CIDCO’s leadership in urban development and infrastructure,” said Vijay Singhal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of CIDCO.
The Navi Mumbai Metro line is the only metro line in Maharashtra to achieve all three ISO certifications in its first year of operation. Shantanu Goel, Joint Managing Director of CIDCO, received the certificates from the British Standards Institution (BSI) through Maha Metro Rail Corporation.
“These certifications reflect CIDCO’s ongoing efforts to improve the operational excellence of the Navi Mumbai Metro. They affirm our commitment to providing a safe, reliable, and sustainable transportation system for Navi Mumbai and its surrounding areas,” a CIDCO spokesperson stated.
The first phase of the Navi Mumbai Metro, covering 11.1 km, began operations in November 2023. The full project, a 23.43 km elevated line connecting Belapur-Khandeshwar, will feature 20 stations.
These ISO certifications underscore CIDCO’s continuous push to meet global standards and elevate the quality of services offered to Navi Mumbai’s residents and commuters.
