Navi Mumbai Police File Case Against Man for Defrauding Woman of Rs 12.65 Lakh and Hacking Instagram
Navi Mumbai, 24th August 2024: The Navi Mumbai police have filed a case against a man accused of defrauding a woman of ₹12.65 lakh by promising her a job and later hacking into her Instagram account to post inappropriate content, an official reported on Saturday.
According to the complaint, the 20-year-old suspect assured the 25-year-old woman from Turbhegaon that he could secure her a position in a public sector organization. However, since July 2021, the accused collected ₹12.65 lakh from the woman without delivering on his promise.
When the woman requested a refund, the accused allegedly threatened to commit suicide and blame her for it, as well as to harm her family. Additionally, he hacked her Instagram account and posted objectionable material.
The police have charged the man with criminal breach of trust and criminal intimidation under the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the IT Act.
