Navneet Rana and Her Husband Ravi Rana Get Bail, Jailed Over Hanuman Chalisa Controversy

Maharashtra, 4th May 2022: Maharashtra MP Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana have been granted bail by a special court. They were sent to jail due to the announcement of reciting Hanuman Chalisa outside CM Uddhav Thackeray’s house. The court heard the bail of independent MP Navneet Rana from Amravati on May 2, but due to not writing the verdict, it was kept safe. While ordering bail to Navneet Rana and her husband, the court also placed some conditions today.
While giving bail on a surety of Rs 50,000, the court put a condition that they cannot talk to the media on this issue when they comebout of jail. Apart from this, even if there is an attempt on the part of the couple to influence the witnesses, their bail can be canceled.
The court said that the Rana couple will have to cooperate fully with the agencies during the investigation. Navneet Rana and Ravi Rana can come out of jail by this evening after the paperwork is completed.
The couple’s lawyer Rizwan Merchant has informed that both the leaders can be released by this evening. The court has granted bail to the Rana couple with conditions. Merchant said the couple has been asked to cooperate during the investigation. Also, they will not be able to tamper with the evidence. Apart from this, they have not even got permission to give any kind of interview in the media.
Navneet Rana and her husband Ravi Rana had talked about reciting Hanuman Chalisa outside Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s residence ‘Matoshree’ on 23 April. The controversy broke out over it that a large number of Shiv Sainiks had reached outside the Rana couple’s house.
After this, an FIR was registered by the Mumbai Police against the Rana couple and later the charge of sedition was also added to it. Not only this, on April 24, both were arrested and produced in the court and the Rana couple was sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
