Palghar: Accident On Mumbai-Ahmedabad National HIghway Leaves 3 Dead, 4 Injured

Palghar, 8th January 2023: Three passengers were killed and four passengers were injured in an accident on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway near Shri Mahalakshmi Temple (Charoti) this afternoon. A complaint is being registered at the Kasa police station on the charge of rash and careless driving.

The Rathod family of Nalasopara West was on their way to Bhilad (Gujarat) for a family function when the accident took place around 12 noon on the Gujarat-bound stretch of the National Highway. Deepak Rathod, who was speeding on the road about one kilometre ahead of Shree Mahalakshmi temple, misjudged the speed on the uphill straight road and while trying to overtake on the wrong side, hit the container truck ahead with his car from behind.

In this accident, three members of his family died on the spot and four were seriously injured. Apart from the driver, three others have been admitted to a hospital in Vapi as they are critical. The deceased included a one-year-old child. The police said that the accident took place due to rash and careless driving by the driver and a complaint is being filed against Dipesh Rathod, Assistant Police Inspector Shrikant Shinde said. Although there is no possibility that the driver was drunk, the police have sent his blood samples for testing.
