Partial Collapse of Chawl in Thane Raises Concerns, Prompts Evacuations

Thane, 22nd April 2024: In Thane, a concerning incident unfolded on Saturday morning when six rooms of a two-storey chawl experienced partial collapse around 10 am. In response, nearby structures were evacuated as a precautionary measure, ensuring the safety of residents. Thankfully, no casualties were reported.

The disaster management cell detailed that four rooms on the first floor of Om Sai Chawl, situated on a hillock in Dongripada locality on Ghodbunder Road, developed cracks and subsequently collapsed onto two rooms on the ground floor. Fortunately, two of the affected rooms were unoccupied, and residents from neighboring rooms swiftly evacuated upon hearing the commotion before the remaining section of the structure collapsed.
