Pune: Chikhali Police Nab Self-Proclaimed “Bhai” for Extortion Tactics, Restores Peace in the Area

Chikhali, 14th March 2024: A man identifying himself as a “Bhai” (goon) was apprehended by Chikhli Police after issuing menacing threats during an incident on February 18 at Sane Chowk, Chikhali. As per reports, the arrested individual, Aslam Bashir Mujawar (Resident of Chikhali), allegedly approached Shivaji Gangadhar Unwane (40 years old, Resident of Chikhali), who owns a clothing store named Classic Men’s Wear at Sane Chowk.

Mujawar reportedly demanded payments in instalments, stating, “I have just been released from jail. I am a significant figure here at Sane Chowk. You’ve prospered, now it’s time to pay up. Give me ₹10,000 initially, and then ₹1,000 monthly.” He purportedly issued threats of violence if the demands weren’t met. Additionally, the owner of a nearby juice centre was also targeted, with Mujawar demanding ₹3,000 monthly.

Following the complaint filed by Unwane at the Chikhali Police Station on Tuesday (12th March), authorities swiftly intervened, apprehending Mujawar and initiating legal proceedings against him.
