School Van Driver Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of 15-Year-Old in Navi Mumbai
Navi Mumbai, 15th March 2025: A van driver for a school has been apprehended for purportedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Navi Mumbai, as reported by police on Saturday.
The authorities registered a case on Thursday based on the girl’s complaint, citing relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The incident allegedly took place on March 3 in Panvel, according to an official statement.
The police reported that the girl was en route to college when the suspect, who resides nearby, allegedly enticed her into his school van. The accused is said to have driven her to a remote area in Chinchwali Shivara, where he subsequently raped her.
According to the official, the girl disclosed the incident to her parents on Thursday, which led to the suspect’s arrest. The man is currently in police custody until March 18, the official confirmed.
