Shocking Hygiene Lapse at Meraki Chinese, Vashi: Stale Food, Dirty Kitchen Spark Outrage
Navi Mumbai, 22nd May 2025: A shocking hygiene violation at Meraki Chinese, a well-known eatery in Vashi, has sparked public outrage after a viral video exposed unsanitary kitchen conditions, including cockroach and rat infestations, stale food, and dirty utensils.
The issue came to light when a dissatisfied customer, upset over a poorly prepared dish, requested a look inside the kitchen. What he found was deeply disturbing: a filthy cooking area that starkly contrasted with the restaurant’s polished exterior and dining space. The customer captured the unsanitary conditions in a video, which has since gone viral on Instagram.
“This isn’t a kitchen—it’s a public health hazard,” commented one viewer, echoing hundreds of online voices calling for immediate inspection and closure of the restaurant.
Health experts warn that such conditions violate the Food Safety and Standards Act and could lead to serious foodborne illnesses.
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) and local health authorities have been urged to inspect the premises, but as of now, neither the restaurant nor the civic body has issued an official response.
