Thane Local Body Polls: BJP Candidate’s Office Attacked, Security Guard Injured

Thane, 17th December 2025: An office of BJP candidate Pawan Walekar, contesting the upcoming Ambernath Municipal Council elections, was attacked by unidentified assailants around midnight on Wednesday, leaving a security guard injured, police confirmed.

The incident took place at Walekar’s public relations office in Ambernath. CCTV footage captured the attackers, who reportedly arrived on a motorcycle and fired three to four rounds at the premises. The security guard sustained injuries during an exchange of fire and is receiving treatment at a local hospital. Authorities are currently examining the footage and investigating all leads.

Police have intensified security in the area ahead of a public meeting scheduled for Wednesday evening, to be addressed by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Teams have been formed to trace the assailants, and a case has been registered under relevant legal provisions.

BJP workers gathered at the Ambernath police station demanding swift arrests. Former MLA Narendra Pawar alleged that police had been previously alerted about suspected individuals, but timely action was not taken. Party supporters also staged a sit-in protest outside the station, pressing for stricter action.
