Thane: Mahatma Phule File Chargesheet For Worker’s Tragic Demise After Four Months; Held Contractor And Owners Responsible

Kalyan, 20th October 2023: Mahatma Phule Police registered a complaint against the developer, contractor, and partner of a under-construction housing project in Kalyan after a woman died from falling from the 15th floor of the building. In this case, police discovered that the deceased woman was not provided with adequate resources, such as a safety net and other materials, and hence the police filed a chargesheet against the responsible stakeholders, putting them behind bars.

The deceased woman, identified as Sujata Sahu, fell from the 15th floor of the scaffolding in June, sustaining leg fractures and other injuries to the body. As per the report, she was on the 15th-floor scaffolding of the under-construction building in kalyan, overseeing a bricklayer’s work, when, regrettably, she lost her balance and plummeted to the fourth-floor slab.

Following the incident, she was promptly hospitalised for medical care, but, unfortunately, she did not survive her injuries. Medical professionals confirmed her death upon her arrival at the hospital.

While investigating this case, the police made a shocking discovery. They found that the under-construction building had no protective nets on four sides for worker safety. Furthermore, workers were not provided with necessary accessories such as helmets, gloves, and socks. Concluding that the owners, partners, and contractors related to this construction are responsible for the death of this woman, the police have registered cases against the concerned.
