Thane Municipal Corporation Removes Over 1400 Unauthorised Banners Ahead of Civic Elections
Thane, 17th December 2025: In a major enforcement drive following the imposition of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the upcoming Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) elections, civic authorities have removed 1,404 illegal political banners and posters across the city within 24 hours.
The operation, conducted between 4 pm on December 15 and December 16, was overseen by Deputy Commissioner Umesh Birari and Assistant Commissioner Supan Bhai, with officers from all nine prabhag committees coordinating efforts to ensure full compliance with election regulations.
Authorities targeted unauthorised banners, hoardings, posters, wall advertisements, and campaign materials, including development work displays bearing names of public representatives, in strict adherence to MCC rules. The swift action is part of ongoing measures to maintain a level playing field during the election period.
