Thane Shocked by Alleged Homicide: Kabaddi Coach Arrested for Killing 17-Year-Old Girl

Thane, 29th May 2024: In Thane, a tragic incident unfolded as Kabaddi coach Ganesh Gambhirrao was apprehended for the alleged homicide of his 17-year-old protege. The young girl, residing with her family in a Thane chawl, was discovered deceased on May 24 following concerns raised by neighbours about a foul odour emanating from her residence. Prompted by this, the landlord notified the authorities.

Upon conducting an autopsy at J J Hospital, it was determined on May 25 that the cause of death was strangulation, prompting law enforcement to register a murder case under section 302 of the IPC and launch an investigation. Subsequent inquiries with the girl’s family and acquaintances unveiled her association with Gambhirrao.

Gambhirrao was located in Ghansoli, Navi Mumbai, and was subsequently arrested. During interrogation, he purportedly confessed to the crime, citing jealousy as the motive, suspecting the girl’s communication with another individual despite their close bond.

As per police reports, on the morning of May 23, Gambhirrao visited the girl in her solitary state, triggering a heated altercation over her extensive mobile conversations. Enraged, Gambhirrao allegedly throttled her with a rope before inflicting fatal stab wounds with a pair of scissors to her neck. He then absconded after securing the door.
