Thane: Ulhasnagar MLA Kumar Ailani Requests Transfer Of Shop Robbery Case To Thane Crime Branch

Ulhasnagar, 27th July 20023: Regarding the robbery at Vijayalakshmi Jewellery Shop last month, MLA Kumar Ailani from the Ulhasnagar constituency has now demanded the transfer of the investigation to Thane Crime Branch. The robbery, orchestrated by a Nepali watchman along with his wife and a few companions, saw the looting of ornaments worth approximately Rs 3.2 crore. Despite a month of intensive investigation, the police have been unable to trace the whereabouts of the suspects.
The incident occurred at the Vijayalakshmi jewellery shop, located in the Shiru Chowk area of Ulhasnagar. Seizing the opportunity of the shop being closed on Tuesdays, the accused and his companions planned the theft and executed it on the night of June 26. The watchman, along with his wife and four to five other individuals, broke into the store using gas cutters and looted the jewellery.
The entire theft was captured on the CCTV cameras installed in the shop. The culprits managed to make away with jewellery valued at Rs 3 crore and 20 lakh, leaving the shop’s owner and authorities stunned. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dr. Sudhakar Pathare, Assistant Commissioner of Police Amol Koli, and Ulhasnagar Thane Senior Police Inspector Dilip Phulpagare have been investigating the matter since last month. However, as the progress on the case was very sluggish, local MLA Kumar Ailani appealed to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during the ongoing monsoon session of the state’s legislative assembly to transfer the case to Thane Crime Branch.
