Thane: Woman Died after Falling From Autorickshaw While Resisting Mobile Thieves

Thane, 11th June 2021: On Wednesday night, in Tin Haat Naka, Thane, a woman fell from a rickshaw as she resisted thieves. A case has been registered at Naupada police station and the mobile thieves have been arrested.

The deceased has been identified as Kanmila Raising (27). The accused, identified as Alkesh Ansari, 20, and Sohail Ansari, 18, are residents of Bhiwandi.

Kanmila, who lives in the Kalina area of Mumbai, was working at Viviana Mall in Thane. Around 8 pm on Wednesday, she left to go home with her friends. He grabbed the rickshaw from the rickshaw stop near the mall. As the rickshaw approached Naka, two thieves on a two-wheeler pulled Kanmila’s mobile phone from behind.

While resisting, Kanmila lost her balance and fell from the rickshaw. Her friend took her to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa with serious head injuries. However, doctors declared her dead before treatment.

A case was registered at Naupada police station. Police arrested Alkesh and Sohail based on CCTV footage, mobile details and other information. A few days back, a woman was killed when she fell from a train while resisting a mobile thief at Kalwa. These types of thefts are on the rise, and these incidents have raised the question of security again.
