Thane: Worker Injured Due To Negligence Of Labour Supervisor At Construction Site

Dombivali, 6th September 2023: In a distressing incident that unfolded at the IRA Home housing project site in Navneetnagar, a labourer suffered serious injuries after being exposed to hazardous chemicals without proper safety equipment. The incident, which transpired on a Sunday morning, has raised concerns about worker safety and the accountability of the labour supervisor.
The victim, identified as Joginder Lal Krishna Gaur, a 21-year-old labourer, has lodged a formal complaint with the Manpada police station, blaming the labour supervisor, Mangesh Shahu, and others involved.
According to Joginder Gaur, he was instructed by Mangesh Shahu to apply a hazardous chemical to a cement mixer using his bare hands. This task, however, was far from safe, given the nature of the chemicals involved. In a shocking lapse of safety protocol, Shahu failed to provide Joginder with the necessary safety equipment, such as gloves and a helmet, which are essential when handling such dangerous substances.
What makes this incident even more appalling is that Shahu was fully aware of the risks involved but still insisted that Joginder undertake the perilous job. Despite knowing that Joginder lacked the proper training and equipment, Shahu negligently suggested that he manually apply the hazardous chemical to the mixer.
Tragically, as a result of this recklessness, Joginder Gaur suffered severe injuries, particularly to his hands and other areas of his body. These injuries could have been prevented had the labour supervisor fulfilled his duty of ensuring the safety and well-being of his workers.
In light of this incident, Joginder has filed a formal complaint with the Manpada police station, holding the labour supervisor and others responsible for the mishap. Authorities are now conducting an investigation into the matter to determine the extent of negligence and whether any legal action should be taken against those involved.
