Thief Who Stole From Trains In Mumbai Caught

Mumbai, 4th January 2023: A thief who stole goods from the mail, express and local trains was recently arrested by the Special Action Force of the Railway Police. The accused, Ayub Ali Sheikh (43), a native of Bihar, was arrested at Kalyan railway station. Also, gold ornaments worth 99,257 rupees and four mobile phones have been seized from him. Five crimes in CSMT, Kurla and Thane railway police stations have been revealed in association with him.

Large-scale theft of passengers’ valuables was observed in mail, express and local. Therefore, the Lohmarg Police Commissioner ordered an investigation of the matter. Ravindra Shisve had given Lohmarg to the crime branch. Later these crimes were investigated in parallel by the Special Action Force team.

A case of theft of a mobile phone, gold ring and cash worth Rs 41,700 was recently registered at CSMT Railway Police Station. While investigating this crime, based on the information received by the police, Ayub Ali Sheikh was suspected to have committed this crime. After that, the police got information that Ayub Ali would come to Kalyan station on 30th December. Police laid a trap in this area and caught Ayub Ali. He then confessed to three counts of theft, one each from CSMT police station, Kurla and Thane.
