Three on a Bike: Fatal Crash in Navi Mumbai Claims Life of Young Rider

Navi Mumbai, 13th January 2025: An 18-year-old boy lost his life after his motorcycle reportedly collided with a dumper truck on Friday near the Jasai Bridge in Uran. Two of his friends sustained minor injuries.
The deceased, Aayan Aafan Nerekar, was riding the bike with his college friends, Shruti Chaudhary and Gautam Mrugan, both also 18 years old. They were travelling three on the motorcycle, a violation of traffic rules, when the crash occurred. Shruti and Gautam were treated for their injuries and are in stable condition.
Uran police’s preliminary investigation suggests that the dumper driver may not be at fault. “We will finalize our conclusions after taking statements from the injured and reviewing nearby CCTV footage,” said Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Misal.
A case of accidental death has been filed. Aayan was rushed to MGM Hospital in Vashi with severe injuries to his head and body. Despite undergoing multiple surgeries over the next two days, he passed away on Sunday at 7:12 am.
Authorities are looking into whether speeding or other factors, including the dumper’s movements, played a role in the tragic accident.
