Tragic Car Collision in Thane: Five Seriously Injured on Mumbai Nashik Highway

Thane, 1st January 2024: In a tragic incident on Monday morning, a car travelling on the Mumbai Nashik highway lost control and collided with a parked tempo in the Panch Pakhdi area of Thane. The collision resulted in serious injuries to five passengers, with two of them in critical condition.

The injured individuals have been identified as Fayyaz Sheikh (51), Vikas Kumar (21), Shivshankar Vikram Aditya (33), Santosh Kumar (24), and Pradeep Prasad (25). Santosh and Vikas, in critical condition, have been admitted to Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital in Sion for further treatment, while the remaining injured are receiving medical attention at the Thane District Government Hospital.

The incident occurred as a Tata Sumo was travelling towards Thane from the Mumbai Nashik highway. Fayyaz was driving the car, and the others were passengers. Around 7 am, in the Panch Pakhdi area, the car experienced a punctured rear wheel, leading to the driver losing control. Subsequently, the car collided with a tempo loaded with bricks on the road. The impact of the accident was severe, resulting in the front part of the car being crushed.

Upon receiving information about the accident, a team comprising police, the fire brigade from Thane Municipal Corporation, and the disaster management department promptly reached the scene. The injured were swiftly admitted to the hospital for treatment, and they are currently under medical care.
