Union Home Minister Amit Shah Enjoys Soulful Rendition by Asha Bhosle at Mumbai Event

Mumbai, 6th March 2024: During a recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Mumbai, the legendary Asha Bhosle, now at the age of 90, showcased her timeless talent by singing the classic track “Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar” from Dev Anand’s ‘Hum Dono’. The versatile singer, adorned with numerous awards, selected this iconic song while seated beside the Home Minister on a sofa.

Amit Shah expressed his delight after the encounter, sharing, “It has always been a delightful experience to meet the legendary Asha Tai. Had an enriching discussion with her about our music & culture in Mumbai today. She is an inspiration to all, and her soulful voice is a blessing to our music industry,” as conveyed through his post on X.

During his two-day visit to Mumbai to finalize the Maharashtra seat-sharing formula, Amit Shah not only engaged in political discussions but also unveiled Asha Bhosle’s photobiography titled ‘Best of Asha’. This compilation, conceived and initiated by Mumbai BJP president and MLA Ashish Shelar, features photographs of the singer captured by photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha.

With a career spanning over eight decades, Asha Bhosle, the younger sister of Lata Mangeshkar, has recorded songs in various Indian languages for films and albums, earning numerous awards, including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008. In 2011, the Guinness Book of World Records recognized her as the most-recorded artist in music history.
