58-Year-Old Man Arrested for Running Sex Racket in Thane Apartment
Thane, 15th February 2025: A 58-year-old man has been taken into custody for allegedly operating a sex racket from his apartment in a residential complex in Thane, Maharashtra, police reported on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of Thane police conducted a raid at the location on February 12, successfully rescuing a woman, according to Senior Inspector Chetna Chowdhari.
The suspect, identified as Dattaram Sawant, had been using his flat in the Vartak Nagar area to run the illicit operation.
Authorities have registered a case against him under Section 143(1) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and relevant provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956 (PITA).
