RTE Admissions in Pune: Directorate of Primary Education Introduces Age Limits for Reserved Seats

Pune, 11th March 2024: The Directorate of Primary Education has established minimum and maximum age limits for admissions to 25% reserved seats in private schools under the Right to Education Act (RTE). For pre-primary admission, the age limit is set between a minimum of three years and a maximum of four years and five months. For primary admission, the age range is between five and five months to seven years and five months until December 31, 2024.

Admissions occur at various levels such as Nursery, Kindergarten, and First Standard, leading to confusion among parents regarding age criteria. The Directorate of Primary Education has clarified the minimum age requirement for children in the academic year 2024-25 for ‘RTE’ admission. Both the minimum and maximum age limits have now been specified by the Directorate of Primary Education. Additionally, it has been emphasized that the age limit for RTE 25% admission for the academic year 2024-25 should be based on the age as of December 31, 2024. This ensures that students born between July and November do not face any educational disadvantages.

The minimum age limit for the playing group is now set at three years, and the maximum age is four years and five months until December 31, 2024. Education Director Sharad Gosavi of the Directorate of Primary Education has clarified that the minimum age limit for the first level will be six years, with the maximum being seven years and five months.
