Thane: Police Investigate Rape Allegations by 14-Year-Old Girl Linked to Social Media

Mumbai, 22nd August 2024: The Thane police have launched an investigation following allegations from a 14-year-old girl who claimed she was raped by a man she met through social media. According to the FIR, the assault occurred approximately three months ago in the Mumbra area.
The accused is also reported to have threatened the girl, warning her not to disclose the incident to anyone, or he would harm her family.
Recently, the girl’s family relocated from Mumbra to Kapurbawdi, where they filed a complaint with the police. Based on their report, the Kapurbawdi police have filed a case under sections 64 (rape) and 65 (rape in certain cases) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to locate the suspect.
