Body of Public Sector Bank Manager Recovered Near Navi Mumbai, Day After Leap Mumbai Link Road

Navi Mumbai, 2nd October 2024: A day after a 40-year-old public sector bank manager allegedly leapt into the sea from the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link road, authorities recovered his body near Uran, Navi Mumbai, on Tuesday.

According to the police, Sushant Chakravarty’s body was located with assistance from local fishermen and was subsequently sent to a government hospital for a postmortem examination.

Officials stated that Chakravarty had parked his red Maruti Brezza on the southbound side of the Atal bridge at around 9:57 am on Monday before allegedly jumping off.

Senior Police Inspector Rohit Khot explained, “Once we were notified by traffic authorities, we initiated a search operation. During our search, we received photos of a body from our colleagues in Uran at around 5:15 pm.”

The images were then shared with Chakravarty’s family, who confirmed his identity. An officer added, “We also verified his identity by checking the finger ring and the clothing he was wearing at the time of the incident.”

The Uran police in Navi Mumbai have registered the case as an accidental death.

Khot further mentioned, “The wife informed us that he was experiencing work-related stress. We are also investigating the matter from that perspective.”
