Mumbai MLA Zeeshan Siddique and Actor Salman Khan Face New Threats from Noida Man

Mumbai, 29th October 2024: Mumbai police reported that MLA Zeeshan Siddique and actor Salman Khan have received new threats from a 20-year-old man from Noida, who has since been arrested for attempting to extort money from them.

The accused, identified as Gurphan Khan, allegedly sent a threatening message to Siddique’s mobile number, which is used for public complaints. The Nirmal Nagar police in Bandra (East) initiated an extortion case on Monday, following the complaint. Khan is said to have sent the threatening message on October 25, which included death threats directed at both Siddique and Salman Khan.

Siddique was alerted to the message by staff at his Bandra office and promptly contacted the Mumbai police. Following the complaint made by his staff member, Ritesh More, the Nirmal Nagar police registered an FIR against the mobile number used to send the threats. Charges were filed under sections 308(2), 308(5), and 351(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the suspect was located in Noida.

Initial investigations indicated that the messages were intended to extort money, a police officer noted, adding that the accused would be presented in court on Tuesday.

This incident comes in the wake of the October 12 murder of Siddique’s father, former MLA and minister Baba Siddique, who was allegedly killed by members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in Bandra (East). Authorities have arrested 15 members of the gang in connection with this case.

Baba Siddique was well-known for hosting Iftar parties attended by Bollywood celebrities, and Salman Khan has longstanding ties to the Siddique family. Khan has been targeted by the Bishnoi gang for an extended period, with gang members even firing shots outside his home in Bandra (West) in April.

In response to the ongoing threats and previous shooting incidents, the Mumbai police have increased security measures around Salman Khan’s residence and enhanced Siddique’s security.
