Mumbai Police Seize Drugs Worth Rs 3.46 Crore, Bhiwandi Man Arrested in Byculla

Mumbai, 1st August 2025: In a major crackdown on narcotics, the Mumbai Police arrested a 24-year-old man and seized drugs valued at over ₹3.46 crore in South Mumbai’s Byculla area during the early hours of Wednesday.

The accused, identified as Sahil Junaid Ansari, a resident of Bhiwandi in Thane district, was caught while driving a Maruti Ertiga suspiciously near Hume Church on B.A. Road around 4 a.m.

A patrolling team, Constables Bhabad, Bhoye, and Gangurde, intercepted the vehicle and questioned Ansari, who failed to provide a convincing explanation for his presence at that hour. Alerted by Constable Bhabad, Police Inspector Anup Dange, along with PSI Kolekar, PSI Asade from the Anti-Terror Cell, and other detection staff, arrived at the spot.

Upon thoroughly searching the vehicle, the team recovered 1,710 grams of Mephedrone (MD) with an estimated street value of ₹3.42 crore, along with 17 grams of charas worth ₹4.5 lakh, hidden inside the car.

Ansari has been taken into custody and charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. All seized substances have been sent for forensic analysis. Further investigation is underway.
