Heavy Rain: BMC Declares Holiday for All Schools in Mumbai on August 19
Mumbai, 18th August 2025: In view of the heavy rainfall lashing the city, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a holiday for all schools across its jurisdiction on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
According to an official circular issued by the Education Department, the decision has been taken to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and non-teaching staff. The order applies to all primary and secondary schools—irrespective of management and medium—including private aided and unaided institutions.
The circular further directs that any examinations, training programs, or academic activities scheduled for Tuesday be rescheduled and completed at the earliest possible date.
Education officials have also forwarded the directive to education inspectors, deputy education officers, and administrative officers across all zones for implementation.
The BMC has urged school authorities and parents to cooperate and prioritize student safety amid the ongoing heavy downpour in the city.
