Guardian Minister Ashish Shelar Reviews Emergency Management in Mumbai

Mumbai, 18th August 2025: In the backdrop of the ongoing heavy rains in Mumbai, the city’s Guardian Minister Ashish Shelar reviewed the emergency management system at the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) headquarters.

He appealed to citizens not to panic and to strictly follow the instructions given by the administration. On Monday, Shelar held a meeting at the BMC’s emergency management control room with Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, Additional Commissioners, and the heads of disaster management departments.

During the meeting, through CCTV monitoring, the current situation at major junctions in Mumbai, the condition of schools and colleges, suburban railways, as well as landslide-prone hilly areas, was reviewed in detail.

Shelar assured that all emergency systems are fully equipped to ensure that citizens do not face problems due to the heavy rains. He also shared this information with the media.

Although suburban train services were running slower, they were not stopped. To prevent train closures, Shelar directed local authorities to make necessary arrangements at the local level.

Additionally, he instructed officials to make alternative arrangements for passenger dispersal at major stations like CSMT, Dadar, and Kurla, where the number of passengers increases during heavy rainfall. He emphasized immediate arrangements for BEST buses to ensure smooth travel for commuters if train traffic is disrupted.
