Central Railway Earns Over Rs 459 Crore from Scrap Sales in FY26
Mumbai, 01st April 2026: Central Railway has recorded scrap sale revenue of ₹459.52 crore for the financial year 2025–26, exceeding the Railway Board’s target of ₹450 crore, according to official data released on March 31, 2026.
The revenue marks the highest scrap sale performance for the zone since the financial year 2023–24. The achievement was driven by the disposal of multiple categories of scrap and surplus materials across divisions and workshops.
Data released by the railway zone shows that 47,502 metric tonnes of rail permanent-way scrap, 31,298 metric tonnes of ferrous scrap, and 3,616 metric tonnes of non-ferrous scrap were sold during the period. In addition, 2,65,625 sleepers were disposed of, along with 50 locomotives, 78 coaches, and 137 wagons classified under rolling stock.
The scrap disposal process was carried out across locations including Kurla Cutting Yard, Traction Machine Workshop in Nashik, Parel Workshop, Manmad Workshop, and all five divisions of Central Railway.
Among divisions, Bhusawal recorded the highest scrap sale at ₹105.39 crore. Matunga Workshop followed with ₹68.39 crore, while Nagpur Division reported ₹64.02 crore. Mumbai Division accounted for ₹55.49 crore, and Pune Division recorded ₹50 crore, with remaining contributions from other divisions and production units.
Separately, a Rotatek printing machine, identified as non-operational but in working condition, was transferred to the Nashik Printing Press at a valuation of ₹8.75 crore instead of being disposed of as scrap.
The figures were released as part of the zone’s annual reporting on scrap disposal and resource management for the financial year ending March 31, 2026.
