Mumbai: Two Contractors Booked for Attempted Murder After Knife Attack Outside BMC Office in Mumbai
Mumbai, 5th August 2026: Two contractors were seriously injured after allegedly stabbing each other during a violent altercation outside the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) F/North Ward Office in Mumbai on Tuesday. Police have registered an attempt to murder case against both individuals and launched an investigation into the incident.
According to the police, the confrontation began with a heated argument, reportedly over a municipal tender. The verbal dispute quickly escalated into a physical fight, during which both contractors allegedly attacked each other with knives.
One contractor sustained a stab injury to the abdomen, while the other suffered a serious injury to his leg. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
A video of the incident has surfaced on social media and is being widely circulated. Police are verifying the footage as part of the investigation.
Preliminary findings indicate that the clash may have been triggered by a dispute related to a BMC tender. However, officials said the exact motive behind the altercation is yet to be established.
The Matunga Police have registered a case against both contractors under Section 109 (Attempt to Murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are conducting further investigations. The incident created panic and tension in the area surrounding the civic office for some time.
Police said further action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
