Anna Hazare Admitted to Mumbai Hospital ICU Due to Dehydration and Kidney Issues
Mumbai, 31st August 2026: Veteran social activist Anna Hazare was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Bombay Hospital in Mumbai on Monday after reportedly suffering from a viral infection, acute dehydration and kidney-related issues.
Hazare was brought to the hospital in a cardiac ambulance along with caretakers from his native village, Ralegan Siddhi. He is currently under the care of Dr Gautam Bhansali, with medical tests underway to determine the further course of treatment.
According to reports, doctors are closely monitoring the veteran Gandhian activist’s condition. Further details regarding his treatment are expected after the results of the medical examinations are available.
Hazare, known for his social reform and anti-corruption campaigns, rose to national prominence during the India Against Corruption movement in 2011. Prior to that, he had earned recognition across Maharashtra for his efforts in rural development, watershed management and social reform, particularly through the transformation of his native village, Ralegan Siddhi, in Ahilyanagar district.
In recent public interactions, Hazare has continued to advocate peaceful and democratic methods for addressing public grievances. Speaking about protests and public movements, he has repeatedly stressed the importance of dialogue and non-violence.
Hazare has maintained that issues affecting citizens should be resolved through democratic dialogue rather than violence, drawing from his own experience of leading several non-violent hunger strikes for social causes.
