Railway News: From Body Cameras to Mini Speakers: New Uniforms Rolled Out for Mumbai Ticket Checkers
Mumbai, 6th October 2026: Western Railway’s Mumbai Division has introduced a new uniform for its ticket-checking staff, with the design incorporating identification features and dedicated compartments for equipment used during ticket checking duties.
The new uniform, already being worn by ticket checkers on platforms and suburban trains, consists of black sleeveless jackets worn over white shirts. A promotional video released by the Mumbai Division showcases the uniform and its features.
The back of the jacket carries the marking “SQUAD WESTERN RAILWAY MUMBAI DIVISION”, while the front has name tags and official Indian Railways badges. The same uniform design is being used by both male and female ticket-checking staff.
The jackets have specially designed compartments to carry equipment used by ticket-checking personnel, including body cameras, Hand Held Terminals (HHT), Excess Fare Ticket (EFT) books and mini speakers for public announcements.
The provision for body cameras is part of the equipment arrangement incorporated into the uniform. The HHTs are used by ticket-checking staff during their duties, while EFT books and mini speakers are also accommodated in the specially designed vest.
The new uniform has been introduced for ticket-checking staff of the Mumbai Division and is currently visible during ticket-checking activities at railway platforms and on suburban trains. The equipment-carrying design allows the listed devices and materials to be kept with the staff while carrying out ticket-checking duties.
The initiative covers both male and female ticket-checking personnel, with the uniform maintaining the same basic design and identification features across the staff.
