Authorities Bust Illegal LPG Operation in Thane, Seize Cylinders and Equipment

Thane, 5th August 2024: Authorities have conducted a raid on a warehouse in Thane district, seizing 341 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders worth ₹7.86 lakh that were being stored and sold illegally, police reported on Monday.
An investigation revealed that the warehouse owner and his two employees were operating without the necessary permits, refilling non-subsidized cylinders for black market sale, according to an official from Shivaji Nagar police station in Ambernath.
The joint operation by district Public Distribution System (PDS) officials and Shivaji Nagar police resulted in the seizure of a large number of filled and empty cylinders from the warehouse located in Anand Nagar industrial area, Ambernath, on Saturday. Along with the cylinders, a tempo and gas refilling equipment were also confiscated.
An FIR has been filed against the warehouse owner and his employees under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Essential Commodities Act, and the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000.
