Exemption On Use Of Loudspeakers Till Midnight For 3 Days Navratri Festival In Mumbai

Mumbai, 27th September 2022: For this year’s Navratri Festival, on 1st October, the use of loudspeakers will be exempted from the festival till midnight. This decision has been taken after a discussion between Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Under the Environment and Climate Change Department’s Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Revised Rules, 2017, the District Collectors have been authorized to announce exemptions for the use of loudspeakers and loudspeakers from 6 am to 12 pm by fixing a total of 15 days in a year. Generally, 13 days are fixed by the Collector concerned. Also, two days are reserved for exemption according to local conditions in the district.

To celebrate Navratri with enthusiasm this year, on 1st October 2022, the use of loudspeakers has been exempted from 6 am to 12 pm for the Navratri festival. Therefore, Saturday will be available as an additional day in addition to Monday, 3rd October and Tuesday, 4th October for this year’s Navratri festival.
