Final Phase of Samruddhi Highway Nears Completion; Inauguration Expected on May 1

Mumbai, 16th April 2025: The final 76-kilometre stretch of the Igatpuri–Aamne section of the Samruddhi Mahamarg is likely to be inaugurated on May 1, Maharashtra Day, according to sources within the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). Once fully operational, the expressway will enable a seamless Mumbai–Nagpur journey in just eight hours.
Although the state government has not yet issued an official confirmation, MSRDC sources said preparations are underway for a formal inauguration ceremony. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, are expected to attend the event.
The 701-kilometre-long Hindu Hruday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg is one of Maharashtra’s most ambitious infrastructure undertakings. Designed to reduce travel time between Mumbai and Nagpur from 16 hours to 8 hours, the project has seen most of its phases already commissioned.
The upcoming inauguration of the Igatpuri–Aamne stretch will mark the completion of the entire expressway, delivering a major boost to transportation, trade, and tourism across the state.
