GRP Arrests Man After Attack on School Headmaster Near Kharbao Railway Station in Thane

Thane, 18th April 2024: The Government Railway Police (GRP) have arrested a 39-year-old man for attempting to murder a school headmaster in Dombivli, located in Maharashtra’s Thane district. The attack occurred on Monday afternoon, according to an official.

The suspect, Shakil Humayun Sheikh, approached the 56-year-old victim while he was walking near the Kharbao railway station and questioned him about the incomplete service record of his wife, who worked at the same school in Bhiwandi.

When the headmaster explained that the service book had been lost, Sheikh became agitated and attacked him with a knife, inflicting multiple stab wounds and leaving him severely injured. The victim was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he remains under medical care.

The victim managed to file a complaint from the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Kalyan hospital. Police have registered a case under Indian Penal Code sections 307 (attempted murder) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt).

Local authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident to gather more details about the crime and establish the motive behind the attack.
