Man Stabs Woman to Death After Rejection, Injures Sister in Thane District

Thane, 29 October 2024: In a tragic incident in Maharashtra’s Thane district, a 23-year-old woman was allegedly killed by a man after she rejected his advances, while her sister was injured during the attack, police reported on Tuesday.

The attack occurred on Monday morning at the victim’s home in Bhadwad village in Bhiwandi, according to an official. The accused, identified as Raju Mahendra Singh (24), was a neighbour and acquaintance of the victim, both hailing from the same village in Uttar Pradesh.

Frustrated by the woman’s refusal, Singh reportedly entered her house around 11:15 AM and stabbed her multiple times with a kitchen knife until she fell. When her sister attempted to intervene, he also attacked her, causing injuries.

Following the incident, Singh fled the scene and remains at large. Authorities were notified, and the victim’s body was sent for a post-mortem examination at a government hospital in Bhiwandi.

Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father, police have registered a case under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including 103 (murder) and 333 (house trespass with intent to cause harm), along with other relevant provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act.
